Everything is Bigger in Texas

Fort Hood is one of America’s largest military bases in the world by both population and area. The post features big tanks, big guns and big helicopters. Everything is bigger in Texas.

The area’s homes are no exception.

The median home size in the Fort Hood area for homes sold in 2016 was 1828 square feet. The largest was 5853. (The smallest was 612 square feet). At a median cost of $74.43 per square foot, you can get a lot of space in Fort Hood at a great value!

Huge Home Stats

Generally, a “big” home for the area is anything over 3000 square feet.  A huge home is any over 4000 square feet. 20 homes sold in the Fort Hood area (Bell, Coryell and Lampasas Counties) in 2016 that were at least 4000 square feet.

The largest home ever to sell in the area was “just” a 6 bedroom, 6 and a half bathroom, 7007 sq. ft. home in Temple, TX (though on the market now is a 7/5.5 home at 9000 sq. ft. for under $750k).

The largest home on the market as of this writing in the Fort Hood area is in Tanglewood North with 4724 square feet on half an acre, asking $399,900, and with a pool.
