Harker Heights Purser Family Park

h1Location:
100 W Mountain Lion Rd.
Harker Heights, TX 76548
Hours: 5 AM – 11 PM
Dog Park Hours: Sunrise – Sunset

Purser Family Park is a much needed addition to the southwest side of Harker Heights, located on the south side of Stagecoach / Mountain Lion.

h2The park is 35 acres with a creek running down either side of the park. It includes very well lit walking/jogging trails, lots of trees, an 18 hole Frisbee golf course, playground, two shade pavilions, and, most notably, the dog park.

h4The dog park is a great attraction, and has always been well populated with dogs great and small on my visits to the park. The dog park area is at the center of the park and separated from the rest of the park by a chain link fence, although there are dogs on leashes regularly throughout the park.
The dog park area is split into two areas, one for small dogs (under 30 lbs) and the other for “big” dogs, where they can be unleashed and free to run around with the other dogs. There are even a few training tools like hoops.

h3Even though it is in Harker Heights, the park is immediately adjacent to Killeen, and within walking distance of Killeen’s growing White Rock Estates, Spanish Oaks, and the high end Deerwood Estates. The Harker Heights neighborhood bordering to the park’s east is Skipcha Mountain.
